“When the world pushes you to your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray.” – Rumi

Dear Fellow Warrior,
The featured photo is another Arabic calligraphy piece I completed a few weeks ago. I really like this one too. This piece came to me as a reflection on these words…what it means to walk away from spaces that no longer fit, and into the arms of the One who always has.
The Transliteration: Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.
It all starts to make sense. Everything.
Your whole life. Even through the broken GPS in your brain.
It’s re-routing. Connecting-the-dots.
And it all makes sense.
That feeling of being hated for being different.
Being misunderstood. Bullied. Othered. Alienated.
All possible signs that you were being called to something.
Feeling resistance from the world is exactly how you know you are stepping into something real.
And when you’re met with silence…that’s when you are reminded of the One who never disappears from your life.
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.
You see the love that others have in their life, and you wonder, what is missing in you, why can’t you have that too? Why aren’t you enough? Why were you never enough?
You resist, just a little, and suddenly you are the villain in their story.
You back away, quarantine yourself, because that is not you.
You are being misunderstood. You don’t belong here, they say.
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.
You tried that life. It didn’t work for you.
You kept running away. When the Book kept chasing after you.
You wanted that life. You saw the joy in others. You thought you could have the same.
It wasn’t you. It was never you.
You were never meant to live for this life…
You took one small step toward Allah… and it feels as if He took ten towards you.
As if He was waiting for you.
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.
How can you turn away from Him now …
This is testimony. Certainly, this must be what it feels like when you stop looking for Belonging in the wrong spaces and start remembering who has always held your soul.
He let the world beat the s*** out of you, and will keep doing it, and you have to welcome it…. because you were always meant for something greater.
For a lot of us – those who have been overlooked, rejected, neglected, mistreated, hurt, abandoned and deeply misunderstood…
These were all signs that you were being chosen…
Allah has to be sufficient.
He must be. How else can we survive in this wretched world…
How many more signs do we need…
We are miserable because we were in complete denial.
That the path we were once on was not for us…
We wanted so badly what we could not have. What we are not meant to have.
No matter how hard we tried to make it work…
We were chosen to walk a different path…
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.
Even if the world doesn’t understand your transformation… even if it keeps resisting your light, your softness, your evolution, your peace, your joy… you remain steadfast…
This is your space. This is your story.
This is your Inward Revolution.
This is where you Belong.
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.
Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs. (Quran 3:173)
