In the effort to be transparent…

Dear Fellow Warrior,

I’d like to make some changes going forward on this blog.

It has been nearly 8 years on this blog now, and I have decided I am going to be incorporating some monetization strategies, starting with affiliate marketing. I did attempt to learn about affiliate marketing when I first started the blog in 2016. It was too complicated for me at the time, and time-consuming, or perhaps I just didn’t want to dedicate too much time away from my doctorate studies, and focus more on the writing of the craft.

While I am still focused on mastering the craft of blogging and writing, I think after 8 years on this platform and starting the Medium Partner Program, and a YouTube Channel as well as consistent posting on my social media platforms, including Twitter and Linkedin, some which require a monthly membership fee, and all of which take considerable time, energy, and effort, it is possible I have developed sufficient skills in the online world of communications, to monetize my blogging efforts.

It also makes sense to consider myself an online creator, given the time, effort, and skills needed to consistently share content online.

I was recently accepted in the Amazon Affiliates Program.

I plan to integrate affiliate links in my blogging and vlogging efforts on some of online platforms where I produce valuable content.

At the bottom of the descriptions and blog posts, you will find a Disclosure note, like this:

Disclosure: Views expressed in these posts are not affiliated with any organization. There are a few affiliate links in this post. If you make a purchase through these links, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. While I may not endorse certain systems, I’m committed to suggesting reliable and safe products. In promoting items, I prioritize those connected to small businesses, especially those owned by women. Your trust is important, and I want you to know that I only recommend products I genuinely believe in. As an Amazon Associate, I earn a small commission for qualifying purchases. In doing so, you support my independent writings, art, and other content. Thank you for supporting “The Chronicles of the Warrior KQueen.”

I want to emphasize that I only intend to promote products that I know have good ratings, are reliable, and are connected to my values. You might find some items relevant to my identity intersections including items connected to public policy scholarship, writing, and painting, for example. I hope to share items that are relevant and useful. This may extend to public policy books, professional and personal development books, writing and painting products, etc.

So let’s try it. I want to test the integration with this post.

As a writer, I have adopted daily journaling as an important daily habit. In such a way that my day is incomplete without it. In The Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron calls this the Morning Pages. Here is a link to the current brand of journals I am using to foster my daily journalling habit: SINOBAND 8-Pack

Happy Writing!

Okay, that was fun, let’s try another!

I love to read. One of my big Sheroes is Dr. Brene Brown. I loved her recent book, “Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of the Human Experience.” I highly recommend it as we go into the U.S. election season in 2024.

Fun!

Monetizing Blogging is not a new thing. I know that I was always an indie blogger, and given my passion for blogging, I should have embraced monetization a long time ago. It connects to Writer Jeff Goins premise in “Real Artist’s Don’t Starve.” There is value in the art that we produce in the world, and we should be able to make a living with what we enjoy doing the most. I have found blogging one of the most fulfilling activities in my life.

There are ways to earn. I have joined some freelancing and writing platforms this year. I recently joined the Medium partner program. I will reveal my earnings, as other writers have done, in January, or once I reach 500 followers.

Part of me may have been protesting or reluctant to go in this direction because I am not a capitalist. But unfortunately, in the capitalist world we live in, we do have to consider our livelihood. And with a fickle economy, it’s important to build and develop streams of passive income. This is not my primary intentions for producing art. But as noted earlier, “real artists don’t starve.” We may even have to accept opportunities as institutions that may not fully align with all of our personal, professional, and political values.

I will continue to build a community and audience with my blogging on this platform, as I have shared in the past. It has been my goal to find a tribe, to connect to others, and to build community. I am hoping that my honesty, authenticity, and transparency will bring you back to visit my visit. The links will only be there in case you have an interest in them.

Here are the other websites I may occasionally put relevant Amazon product links:

My Medium posts: https://medium.com/@elsatalatkhwaja

My professional website: www.elsatkhwaja.com

My Painting Heals website once I update and migrate it to a separate domain: www.paintingheals.elsatkhwaja.com

(I hope to update this in the future once the website is ready!)

My YouTube Channel: handle @drElsaWQ

My Future Podcast: I am still conceptualizing, but I am looking into starting a podcast as well at the start of the new year. So I will be sure to alert you of that going forward!

My Future Substack Newsletter: I will also add some links to my future Substack newsletter posts. Yes, I am starting an Academic Newsletter in the new year. Come back to that soon for the link!

I will continue to chronical my journey, and build with what resonates with others, while not compromising authenticity and belonging, as this space is meant to be honest, real, reflexive, and authentic.

My goal in 2024 is to work on building a community, and finding my tribe once and for all.

I’ll be on various platforms, continuing my online creator/creative journey, in rewriting my story and changing my stars, hoping to help others along the journey as well. Thank you for being here, and thank you for giving my voice a chance.

Solidarity, Peace, Warmth, and Blessings,

Dr. Elsa, Warrior KQueen
